Radiac Abrasives acquired Bates Abrasives Inc., a full-line, resin-bonded cut-off and grinding wheel manufacturer.
Bates will continue to be run by its previous owner and CEO, Paul Anderson. The Burlington, Wash.-based company employs 55 people.
The company will retain the Bates Abrasives brand name. Its markets include forestry, natural stone, steel mills and metal fabrication. They also manufacture and market a full line of organic surface grinding segments, cylinders, nut-inserted disc wheels, cones and plugs.
''The synergies between Radiac and Bates made for a natural partnership between the two companies,'' said Dave Pryor, president/CEO of Radiac.
Headquartered in Salem, Ill., Radiac is the second largest manufacturer of bonded abrasives and super-abrasive grinding wheels in the United States. They also have locations in Oswego, Ill., Marysville, Wash., and Tijuana, Mexico.
