Three new software products for distributors

Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 5/1/2007

Three new software products aimed at distributors hit the market recently, offering mobile order management for outside sales staff, data protection and B2B e-commerce capability.

System access on the go: Infor's Mobile Order Management solution lets field salespeople process orders remotely using a PDA, laptop or any other mobile device anywhere in North America, meaning sales personnel can spend less time on manual order processing and more time with customers.

The order management system is designed to integrate with any ERP platform, regardless of vendor. Its Web-based interface allows users to access stored inventory data and submit orders wirelessly.

Disaster-proof data storage: Intuit Eclipse teamed up with data protection provider EVault to create a new system designed to protect data in the event of a disaster.

The Eclipse Business Connect Remote Backup automatically backs up business-critical data to one of EVault's secure data centers, ensuring its survival in the event of fire, flood or other catastrophe.

The online service is aimed at businesses that need a more reliable and centralized data protection process, but have minimal or no IT resources. The encrypted data is sent via the Internet or other network to a secure, off-site data center, where it is available online at all times for immediate, user-initiated recovery. The service works with an organization's existing infrastructure, and requires no additional hardware.

eCommerce made simple: NetSuite's new B2B e-commerce platform provides a real-time, end-to-end e-commerce solution, integrating the accounting, warehouse, marketing and support departments within a single system.

The system features a password-protected Web store with registration and login functions; an integrated approve/fulfill/bill order workflow, real-time integration to multi-location inventory, and order fulfillment including pick, pack and ship; volume, term, and contract/customer-specific pricing; credit card payments and invoicing based on customer terms and credit limits, as well as payment with Level 2 credit card purchasing (P-Cards) and standard bank credit cards.
