Grainger launches Tools for Tomorrow Scholarship program
W.W. Grainger awarded its first Tools for Tomorrow scholarship to Henry Ford Community College student Michael Guido. The award supports students in occupational trade programs across the country, and was given during an open house at Grainger's new Auburn Hills, Mich., facility in June.
“Grainger has been part of the local business community for 70 years, and we believe investing in our young people is one of the best ways to invest in the future of the Detroit area,” said Grainger regional branch services vice president Ron Paulson.
Guido, 19, was nominated for the award by the faculty at Henry Ford Community College, located in Dearborn, Mich. He is entering his second year in the school's architecture/construction program.
“I'm excited to be the first recipient of Grainger's Tools for Tomorrow Scholarship,” Guido said, in accepting his award. “I truly enjoy architecture and construction, and Grainger's generous contribution will be a great help to me as I continue to pursue a career in that field.”
Grainger's Tools for Tomorrow scholarship covers tuition for the student's second year, and includes a tool package upon successful completion of his program.
In addition to the scholarship, Grainger donated an additional package of tools for hands-on learning to the school's architecture/construction program.
