Record turnout at IDC Spring Meeting
Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 6/1/2006
A record-breaking 90 attendees turned out for the Spring Meeting of IDC-USA, a cooperative of independent power transmission distributors.
"I'm pleased to tell you that the state of the cooperative has never been better," IDC president and CEO Jack Bailey said in his opening remarks. In addition to the strong attendance figures, Bailey said IDC-USA welcomed 10 new distributor members in 2005, added 16 lines to its product offering, and recorded $9.9 million in warehouse gross revenues for the year.
IDC chairman Dan Kazmierczak added that the group's sales were up more than 20 percent last year, and pointed to the collective strength of its members in the marketplace: combined, IDC-USA members racked up more than $850 million in sales in 2005. Kazmierczak is president of Binkelman Corp., based in Toledo, Ohio.
IDC-USA has 73 member companies, all power transmission distributors who own shares in the cooperative. The group's administrative offices and warehouse are located in Indianapolis.
Among the major announcements at the meeting was that IDC-USA will implement Activant's Prophet 21 CommerceCenter as its new technology system this summer. The planned launch date is August 1. IDC-USA has used Prophet 21 technology for years, but is converting to the CommerceCenter solution, Bailey told members.
More than 10 percent of IDC's 200 distributor locations nationwide already use an Activant technology solution.
Other highlights included an awards ceremony, during which IDC's preferred suppliers gave back $535,000 in rebate checks to the membership.
The meeting ended with a supplier trade show held at IDC headquarters.
