Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 4/1/2006
The 26th National Industrial Fastener Show/East will make its return to Columbus, Ohio, early next month.
The May 1–2 show, titled "Your Blueprint to the Future," will bring manufacturers, distributors, importers and reps together for two days at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
The Gala welcoming reception will kick off the event on the evening of May 1, and offers an opportunity for attendees to reconnect and network.
Exhibits open on Tuesday, May 2, and will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
"We decided to bring the show back to Columbus because it is a great demographic area for the fastener industry," said Susan Hurley, show manager. The show began in the city 25 years ago.
Two seminars will include presentations by industry specialists on fasteners' dimensional specifications and restrictions.
Dimensional & Material Specifications will cover thread specifications and gauging requirements for bolts, hex cap screws, nuts, machine screws and tapping screws. The full-day session will take place Monday, May 1.
Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) will attempt to explain the European standards prohibiting certain heavy metals in landfills, effective 2006. The standards may ban manufacturers from selling product that contains these metals, which include hexavalent chromium. Instructors will discuss alternatives to hex chrome and making products that comply with RoHS. The program runs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, May 1.
