NAW elects officersThe National Assn. of Wholesaler-Distributors has elected its 2006 officers, including Robert A. Reynolds, Jr., chairman/president/CEO of Graybar Electric Co., as chairman of the NAW Board of Directors. Other officers include Raymon A. York, CEO at Ewing Irrigation Products, as chairman-elect; C.S. "Chip" Hornsby, president and CEO at Ferguson Enterprises, as first vice chairman; Randy Lindberg, president of the western region of United Natural Foods, Inc., as second vice chairman; and Robert N. Taylor, president and CEO at Do It Best Corp., as secretary. Completing the board are chairman of the Assn. Executives Council, Donald L. Frendberg; Chairman-elect G.A. Taylor Fernley; and past chairman Henry W. "Rick" Doyle III.

NIBA's new training productNIBA—The Belting Assn. introduced a new training product for the belting industry. The association is offering PowerPoint presentations highlighting conveyor belt applications in 12 industries packaged on one CD. The CD features presentations on the crushed stone and aggregate industry; unit package handling, distribution and warehousing; and bakeries, among others.

MHIA elects governorsThe Material Handling Industry announced the election of its 2006–07 Board of Governors, which consists of the officers of MHIA plus the CEO and general counsel of the corporation. The Board of Governors serves as the Board of Directors for MHIA.
Brian McNamara, president of Southworth International Group, Inc., was elected executive chairman; Colin Wilson, COO at NACCO Materials Handling Group, Inc., was elected executive vice chairman and chairman; George W. Prest, president of Prest Rack, Inc., was elected vice chair; and Ralph C. Deger, president of Bushman Equipment, Inc., will serve as last retiring executive chairman.
Elected to serve as vice chairmen were: Michael Gonzalez, Gregg Goodner, Willard P. Heddles, John M. Hill, Daniel J. Quinn, David D. Reh, James C. Robertson, E. Larry Strayhorn, Richard L. Torbeck, and John B. Nofsinger. Arthur Stroyd, Esq., partner of ReedSmith, LLC, will serve as MHIA general counsel.

ISSA's technical committeeISSA—the association for the cleaning industry has hosted the first in a series of technical committee meetings to create a new Quality Management Standard that will help facility service providers develop customer-centered, quality cleaning organizations. One of the many developments made was to identify five key elements of a well-managed cleaning organization, which will be the backbone of the actual standard. Those elements are: management, quality systems, service delivery, human resources, and commitment to health, safety and the environment.
