Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 3/1/2006
Members of NAHAD—The Assn. for Hose & Accessories Distribution will meet for their 22nd Annual Meeting & Convention April 8–12 at The Broad-moor Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colo. This year's theme is "Resilient Distribution: Planning for Success in Challenging Times," and features workshops on everything from profitability to RFID technology.
"...attendees will learn how to make their businesses more resilient, flexible and responsive, and will receive enormous take-home value," NAHAD president Dan Ahuero said in a welcome letter inviting members to the meeting.
Ahuero also noted that convention attendees will be the first to receive the latest Hose Assembly Guidelines products developed by NAHAD's Standards Committee. NAHAD's Hose Assembly Guidelines program is aimed at improving hose assembly quality, safety and reliability throughout the industry.
Standards Committee chairman Sam Foti, Jr. will explain the additions to the program on Sunday, April 9. Additions include the Hose Fabrication Guidelines and Hose Design Guidelines Web sites, five online Hose Assembly Specification exams and certificates, and an update on the program's Market Applications Web site.
The convention will also feature several workshops, including: "From Dull to Dynamic: Transforming your Presentation Skills," by author and professor Stephen Boyd of Northern Kentucky University; "Resilience for Competitive Advantage—Reducing Vulnerability When Things Go Wrong," by Yossi Sheffi, professor of engineering systems at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and director of MIT's Center for Transportation and Logistics; and "From Raw Materials to Supply Chain Disruptions—The Macroeconomic Perspective," by Peter Ricchiuti of Tulane University.
In addition, well-known industry consultant Dr. Al Bates will lead a workshop on profitability, and Texas A&M University's Dr. Madhav Pappu will discuss RFID in a session titled, "RFID-ID: Wireless Technology for Industrial Distribution."
NAHAD's annual Contact Table Exhibits program is on the agenda, as well, and a number of networking and social events will round out the program.
