3M rolls out a duct tape that unwinds easier

Performance Plus duct tape 8979 features unique UV and water-resistance properties for improved removal and extended service life both indoors and outdoors.

The tape can be removed cleanly from most opaque surfaces for up to six months, even after exposure to sunlight and temperature extremes, virtually eliminating the hassle of removing sticky residue. The tape resists deterioration for up to a year, according to company information, even when it's been sun-baked and rain-beaten.

The tape has excellent adhesion associated with all 3M duct tapes, yet it unwinds easily from the roll, reducing user fatigue. The proprietary construction provides straight, easy tear with high tensile strength. Special tack-free edges help keep the roll clean, and minimize waste. The tape meets UL 723, HUD and BOCA codes, and is available in a variety of widths and colors, including slate blue, black and olive.
