Infor Acquires Formation Systems
Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 10/1/2005
In August, software giant Infor acquired Formation Systems, a provider of product lifecycle management solutions for process manufacturing companies. Infor is a global software company serving the manufacturing and distribution markets.
Formation Systems will join the Infor process manufacturing group, led by Bruce Gordon, senior vice president and general manager, and will continue to operate in Southborough, Mass. Both Infor and Formation Systems are privately held, and terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"The acquisition of Formation Systems is consistent with our strategy of assembling high-quality brands and professionals with deep vertical expertise," said Jim Schaper, chairman and CEO of Infor. "...The addition of PLM to our product portfolio expands Infor's capabilities to integrate, streamline, and manage the entire process of product development."
Formation Systems serves manufacturing customers in the food and beverage, home and personal care, and specialty chemical industries. Those customers will now have access to Infor's wide range of services and its global support network.
"We are committed to protecting Formation Systems customers' technology investments," said Gordon. "Formation Systems customers gain access to Infor's global investments in technologies, solutions and people with the domain expertise to continually enhance its products to solve evolving business requirements and provide the strength of a global support network."
