Hurricane Katrina Coverage - Fastenal Co.,
Locations throughout Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama
-- Industrial Distribution, 9/12/2005
On Sept. 2, Fastenal reported that it had lost more than 10 stores and sustained extensive damage to many others in the region affected by Hurricane Katrina. Also as of Sept. 2, the company had not accounted for all of its employees in the area.
In a press release, Fastenal president Will Oberton said the company would provide vehicles and temporary housing for employees that had lost those essentials. He also urged Fastenal’s unaffected employees to donate to the Fastenal Relief Fund, which will aid the company’s victims of the hurricane. Fastenal will match those donations, up to $50,000, Oberton said.
Fastenal had set up strategic points near the devastated areas for the distribution of products needed to help with recovery and rebuilding efforts.
Fastenal executives could not be reached for comment as of Sept. 9.
