NIBA—The Belting Assn. will host a two-day seminar, titled "Precision Selling," Oct. 26–27 in Memphis, Tenn. The multi-level interactive seminar includes key elements for successful selling of belting-related products, including honing listening skills, identifying customer needs, creating solutions, overcoming objections, and prospecting new accounts. The seminar will benefit both existing and promising sales talent with two days of "tool box" building, according to NIBA.

ISEA elects chairman, vice chairman and trusteesMichael A. McLain, president and CEO of Aearo Co. in Indianapolis, was elected chairman of the International Safety Equipment Assn. Board of Trustees. William M. Lambert, president of Mine Safety Appliances Co. in Pittsburgh, was elected board vice chairman.
Newly elected to the board was Mark Magidson, president and CEO of Moldex-Metric, Inc. in Culver City, Calif.; and re-elected to the board were Michael Kelly, vice president of St. Paul, Minn.—based 3M Co.'s Occupational Health and Environmental Safety Division; and Donald Ziesel, North America sales manager for the DuPont Personal Protection Business in Wilmington, Del.

ISSA hits the Strip in VegasThe International Sanitary Supply Assn. will host its annual INTERCLEAN convention, called "The ONE SHOW where everybody wins," in Las Vegas, Oct. 18–21, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Actual exhibit days are Oct. 19–21. Attendees include representatives from all segments of the industrial and institutional cleaning and maintenance industry, including distributors, wholesalers, building service contractors (BSC) and in-house professionals. More than 16,000 participants from 65 countries are expected to attend, of which an estimated 20 percent will be from outside the United States. The convention's keynote speaker, Jim Collins, best-selling author and management educator, will speak to attendees on Wednesday, Oct. 19, before the distributors are allowed access to the exhibits. More than 30 industry-specific seminars will be offered over the four-day event, including workshops, special events, partner events, and distributor and facility service provider sessions.

PTDA's Industry Summit, Oct. 18–20The Power Transmission Distributors Assn. will hold its 2005 Industry Summit at Bally's Las Vegas, Oct. 18–20. Meeting under the theme, "Increase Your Odds for Success," members will take part in workshops, committee meetings, social events, and the Manufacturer-Distributor Idea Exchange program. The convention begins Tuesday, Oct. 18, with the annual Golf Outing, followed by a town hall meeting and welcome reception in the evening. Counselor, educator and author Connie Podesta will give the keynote presentation on Wednesday morning. Workshops, member forums and manufacturer hospitality events will also be held on Wednesday. Thursday's lineup includes a buffet breakfast and keynote presentation by Todd Buchholz of Enso Capital Management LLC. The Manufacturer-Distributor Idea Exchange follows, and allows distributors and manufacturers to meet one-on-one for 20-minute appointments and to browse the program's tabletop exhibits. The 2005 Industry Summit will end Thursday evening with an off-site social event at Las Vegas' Rain nightclub.
