NSC's members to meet in Orlando

Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 7/1/2005

The National Safety Council will host its 93rd Congress and Expo at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., with the Congress running from Sept. 17–23, and the Expo from Sept. 21–23.

The Congress and Expo, ranked as one of the top 200 trade shows in the nation, according to NSC, bring in 14,000–16,000 attendees from more than 63 countries.

More than 200 sessions in the convention's educational program ensure that there is something for everyone, with topics ranging from broad-based subjects to industry-specific seminars. Seasoned professionals and newcomers to the health and safety arena are invited to attend any session. Continuing education credits also are offered and awarded on-site after attending each class.

The Expo draws more than 750 exhibiting companies to its health and safety exhibit, including manufacturers of safety, health and environmental products and services.

The agenda for Congress includes professional development seminars, offered for an additional fee, Saturday through Tuesday (Sept. 17–20); opening ceremonies, a keynote session, technical sessions, and the Expo on Wednesday (Sept. 21); technical sessions and the Expo on Thursday (Sept. 22); and a motivational keynote session, technical sessions and more Expo finishing it up on Friday (Sept. 23).

Speakers at the opening session include Charles O. Holliday, Jr., chairman of the board and CEO of DuPont; and Alan C. McMillan, president and CEO of NSC. Motivational keynote speakers include Charlie Morecraft and Dr. Scott Geller, who will speak on, "The Human Side of Injury Prevention."

Attendees also have the opportunity to attend the XVIIth World Congress on Safety and Health at Work, held for the first time in the United States, from Sept. 18–22, in the same location. The World Congress on Safety and Health at Work is, according to NSC, an international gathering of more than 3,000 health and safety experts who come together every three years to exchange ideas, research and best practices on issues related to occupational safety and health. The World Congress is jointly organized by NSC, the United Nation's International Labor Organization, and the International Social Security Assn.
