NIBA elects officers. The National Industrial Belting Assn. recently elected officers for its board of directors.
Wayne E. Hoffman, president of Siegling America, Inc., assumes the presidency of the board for 2001. Other officers include: first vice president, Ronald Roalsen, Rubber & Plastics, Inc.; second vice president, Charlie Vickers, McLeod Belting, Inc.; and treasurer, David Schempp, Chemprene, Inc. Immediate past president Tom Crandall of Dunham Rubber & Belting Inc. will also serve on the executive committee. The officers were elected at the association's Annual Fall Convention and will serve a one-year term.
Worlds of Concrete and Masonry add 29 new seminars. The 91-session educational program for the World of Concrete and its companion exhibitions, World of Masonry and The Producer Center, is the largest ever presented at this construction-industry event. The 2001 program has 29 new seminars that span nine of the program's 10 topic areas: basics, residential, decorative, repair, safety, floors, masonry, concrete production, specialty topics, and management.
Seminars begin Monday, February 26, and exhibits open on Tuesday, February 27. Trade show events will continue through Friday, March 2, 2001, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev.

ProMat 2001 sets educational conference for February. ProMatr2001-the international material handling and logistics show and conference sponsored by the Material Handling Industry of America-will offer seminars, workshops and tutorials designed to aid attendees in solving their supply chain challenges. During the four-day event-to be held February 12-15 at McCormick Place in Chicago-industry experts will focus on the latest material handling and logistics innovations and applications, as well as on industry-wide issues such as ergonomics and worker safety.
In addition, on Monday, Feb. 12, the conference will feature an executive symposium focusing on e-fulfillment. Chris Newton, senior research analyst, AMR Research, will moderate the symposium, which will feature speakers from Dell Computer Corp., DCS Logistics, Motorola Communications, DaimlerChrysler, PSINet Consulting Solutions, Cypress Associates, and eToys.

NEDA honors five industry leaders
The National Electronic Distributors Assn. honored five distribution industry leaders at its annual awards ceremony in October. NEDA bestowed its highest honor, The Gail S. Carter Award, to Steve Kaufman, chairman of the board of Arrow Electronics, for his contributions to the distribution industry.
Molex, Inc. received the NEDA Manufacturer Award, which recognizes the manufacturer-supplier that best exemplifies the spirit of partnership in the electronic distribution industry.
Ray Hall of ERA and Mike Hayden of Texas Instruments were honored with NEDA's Distinguished Service Award for their significant contributions to the association. In addition, NEDA posthumously honored Pat Moran, formerly of Texas Instruments, with that same award.
Timken elected chairman of NAM
W.R. "Tim" Timken, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of The Timken Co., has been elected chairman of the National Assn. of Manufacturers. Timken will focus on highlighting the new manufacturing-characterized by technology, innovation and productivity-and its critical role in the new economy. He also will urge manufacturers and their employees to get more involved in the political process.
