From student to employee
Students from East Carolina and Eastern Michigan say they want to work for a customer-oriented, growth-oriented and employee-focused company when they complete their industrial distribution studies

Q: Upon graduation, what kind of company do you hope to work for and why?
Mark William Bray After graduation, I plan to work for an industrial distributor. Over the past two years, I have been working part time for one of the largest industrial distributors in North America. The real-world experience I have received by working in the distribution field, along with the knowledge I have acquired about this industry in East Carolina University's Industrial Distribution and Logistics program, makes me feel that working for a distributor will be the perfect fit for me. My education and experience in the industry have prepared me to be a valuable asset to my future employer.
I would like to be employed by a progressive company that is innovative, growth-oriented, and will help me develop as a professional by allowing me to meet and exceed my personal goals for success.
Another characteristic that I feel is essential for a company is having confidence in a young employee's ability to help them achieve the level of success they desire. I believe there are many great companies in this industry that have these important qualities. Graduation will be here soon, and I am excited to continue my journey in the industrial distribution field.
Jameel Nadir After graduation, I hope to work for a company that fits a profile I would feel good representing no matter where I am. A company that would stand out would be customer-oriented, have shown company growth over the last several years, employee growth within the company, and support of minorities within the company. I believe that these characteristics are keys to the future success of any business, and are traits I would stand by as an employee. If a company has those attributes, I'd feel as if I had placed myself in a position to be a member of a workforce that would not only help me, but put me in a position to enjoy who I am employed by.
I would not like to work for a company just because they may pay better than others, or because the company makes the most annual revenue. If a company can be described as having the above characteristics, I will feel as if this company fits the mold of an organization I can appreciate as an employee for the duration of my tenure with them.
