MHEDA convenes in Phoenix
Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 3/1/2005
The Material Handling Equipment Distributors Assn. will host its annual convention April 30–May 4 at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Phoenix.
This will be the organization's 50th annual convention. The theme of this year's meeting is "Revive: Transform Your Business."
The convention's keynote presentation will be by author Kevin Frieberg, who will speak on "Blow the Doors Off Business As Usual."
Conference highlights include a manufacturer-distributor panel presentation as well as several transformation sessions. The presenters and topics for those sessions include:
"Becoming a Selling Organization"—Don Buttrey, professional sales trainer with Sales Professional Training, LLC, will focus on the concept of "team selling" and its impact on the bottom line.
"Hey Dude: Managing the New Workforce"—Bob Wendover, managing director of the Center for Generational Studies, analyzes the potential generation gap conflicts some businesses are experiencing. Managers complain about the lack of work ethic of the younger generations while these younger generations are frustrated by older supervisors who they feel are stuck in their ways.
"A Sales Lead is a Terrible Thing to Waste"—Mark Friedman, president of the Velos Group, looks at how to create a closed-loop lead management system in order to increase sales results and productivity.
The closing general session will be on "Lies, Swindles and Building a Healthy Business." Dr. Scott Rae, professor of Christian Ethics at Biola University, will lecture on ethics in the corporate world.
