Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 3/1/2005
The National Fastener Distributors Assn. will host its Annual Spring Meeting in Panama City Beach, Fla., Tuesday through Saturday, Apr. 12–16. Held at the Bay Point Marriott Resort, the meeting will provide attendees with five days of educational sessions, social activities and networking opportunities.
Activities at the meeting include Thursday's keynote speaker, Richard Flint, and his presentation titled, "Start Your Engine," a session designed to help attendees deal with the inconsistencies in their lives, giving them a view into the five critical mistakes people make to shut themselves down before they get started. Michael Broome's Saturday session, "Killing Stress Before It Kills You," offers Broome's techniques for managing pressure, change, fear, anger and worry. In Saturday's second presentation, Vince Poscente leads attendees through "Be Invincible," a session and five-step action plan to transform workplace performance through clarity of vision, commitment, consistency, confidence and control.
Friday's breakout sessions include "Technology in the Palm of your Hand," with Prophet 21's Doug Levin; and "What Happened to the Price of Fasteners in 2004, and Will It Continue?" led by a panel drawn from experienced NFDA members. Levin will lead attendees through an informative session on technology. The panel in the "Fasteners" session will review the cost components involved in fasteners and determine their stabilization in 2005.
Social activities include Wednesday's welcome reception, Thursday's networking reception, a reception and banquet on Friday, and a Hawaiian luau theme party. Attendees also may enjoy the Shell Island & Grand Lagoon Boat Tour on Thursday, and the Island Time trip with the opportunity to swim with the dolphins and snorkeling. Optional activities on Saturday also include a book discussion of The Secret Life of Bees by the book's author, Sue Monk Kidd; a fishing competition; an optional pirate cruise and luau; golf; a volleyball tournament; and individual and small-group options.
