Amacoil's Uhing RS4 is an alternative to screw-based linear drive systems

The Model RS4 drive nut is ideal for OEMs that require smooth, jam-proof and backlash-free linear motion drives. An alternative to screw-based linear drive systems, the RS4 is available in seven sizes to meet varying payload and linear speed requirements, and is configurable for vertical and horizontal travel.

The RS4 allows for shaft rotational speeds up to 10,000 rpm—depending on the size of the drive nut. Linear travel speed ranges from .5 ft./sec. up to 4 ft./sec., taking into account the consistency of the Uhing drive and the weight of the payload. RS4 drives also offer axial thrust from 22 lbs. to 449 lbs.

The drives feature specially machined Uhing rolling ring bearings that are installed under pressure inside the drive, and a constant single-point contact between the bearings and the drive shaft, resulting in zero play when the shaft is rotated—even during reversal. Anti-backlash solutions such as pre-loaded nuts or double-enveloping gears are not required.

As components in a variety of positioning and reciprocating linear motion systems, Uhing drives meet many linear motion application requirements, including material handling machines, winding equipment, various test and measurement devices, parts transfer systems, and packaging machines.

The only maintenance required to keep the drives running smoothly is periodic, light lubrication of the shaft, a smooth, no-threads mechanism that won't trap dirt and debris.

When integrated with a linear scale, proximity switches or other stroke measuring or limiting devices, the RS4 linear drive provides smooth movement with accuracy subject to the types of controls being used.
