NIBA scholarship winners and two-day seminarAs part of NIBA—The Belting Assn.'s not-for-profit charitable philosophy, it offers three up-to-$1,000 scholarships each year to employees of NIBA distributor/fabricator members for a business-related course of study.
This year's recipients are: Craig Ziegler and Matt Nation of King Energy Services in Colorado, who both attended the NIBA Fundamentals of Belting Seminar in Nov. 2003; and Chris Black of Rubber and Accessories, Inc., in Lakeland, Fla., for a two- session course, Introduction to Computers and Microsoft Windows.
Information on applying for the 2005 scholarships will be mailed to NIBA distributor members in May 2005.
NIBA also will host a two-day seminar, entitled "Train the Trainer," April 7–8 in Orlando, Fla. The seminar, offered for the first time, will help companies identify their training goals, develop an infrastructure/process to train, and determine the materials available through NIBA for their training needs. The session is geared to employees who will be responsible for in-house training.

NAED releases videoThe Education & Research Foundation of the National Assn. of Electrical Distributors released "The World of Electrical Distribution," a 12-minute video designed to educate distributor employees, recruits and new hires on the role of electrical distributors, as well as enhance the understanding of manufacturers and customers.
Using graphics and live footage from 10 NAED member facilities, the video covers the multi-faceted and complex value that a distributor brings to the channel in a concise and fast-paced manner. From channel relationships to value-added services and career opportunities, "The World of Electrical Distribution" is an all-purpose presentation to educate and inform anyone who interacts with or works for an electrical distributor.

AMTMA names officersThe American Measuring Tool Manufacturers Assn., an organization formed in 1973 "to promote and further the interest of its members in manufacturing, engineering, research, safety, transportation and other problems of the industry," announced the election of its new officers.
George J. Schuetz of Mahr Federal in Providence, R.I., was elected president; John E. Mead of Master Gage & Tool Co. in Danville, Va., was elected vice president; and Norman C. Leduc of Vermont Gage in Swanton, Vt., was elected secretary/treasurer.

SEFA prepares for spring conferenceThe Southeastern Fastener Assn. will host its 30th anniversary conference, March 10–11 in Charleston, S.C.
Events at the conference on Thursday include a Board of Directors' meeting; the annual golf outing; and an opening reception. Friday's activities include a morning business meeting; annual tabletop show; reception; and banquet dinner. Friday's business meeting will include John Wiz of FIN, and his popular program on the ethics questions faced in the industry, Todd McRoberts of Stelfast speaking on sales techniques and market conditions, and an industry panel discussion.
