3M's three new abrasive products are ideal for metal fabrication and industrial maintenance

3M Abrasive Sys-tems Division introduced three new products for the metal fabrication and industrial maintenance markets: Scotch-Brite radial bristle discs and brushes; professional shop rolls and cloth sheets 304D; and XR metalworking wheels.

The Scotch-Brite radial bristle discs and brushes are tough plastic, rotary tools embedded with sharp 3M Cubitron abrasive grain that can be used to complete industrial jobs such as cleaning metal prior to welding, removing discoloration and sealant, and deburring, all without damaging the underlying surface. Available in 4.5-in. discs and 6-in. and 8-in. brushes, they are flexible enough to penetrate irregular surfaces, offering a consistent finish on complex parts.

3M professional shop rolls and cloth sheets 304D are a high-performance, versatile solution for general-purpose cloth sanding and maintenance applications. They offer cleaner operations, less rework and higher productivity, and a resistance to mineral loss while being flexible, which means they can be torn into narrow strips and used with cutting oil or water. Available in 9-in. x 11-in. sheets or 50-yd. rolls in 1-in., 1.5-in. and 2-in. widths, the shop rolls and cloths are versatile and can be used by hand.

The XR metalworking wheel is a hard-cutting, heavy-duty wheel designed to remove parting lines on cast metal parts. Mounted on a bench motor or hand-held tool, the wheels have increased mineral loading, which means an improved, consistent cut rate throughout the life of the wheel, and molded wheel technology that offers a high level of control and a smooth-running wheel.
