Safety Week takes on Toronto
Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 7/1/2004
Toronto will be the headquarters for Safety Week 2004, July 25–28, providing attendees with presentations, educational and breakout sessions, receptions and networking opportunities. Sponsored by the International Glove Assn., Safety Equipment Distributors Assn., Canadian Glove Manufacturers Assn., and the Safety Equipment Manufacturers' Agents Assn., the conference will be held at the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel.
The four days of activities kick off with Sunday night's welcome reception, and continue on Monday with a buffet breakfast; Profit Planning Group president Dr. Al Bates' general session presentation, "Building a Profit Team/Building a Profit Channel;" INDUSTRIAL DISTRIBUTION's "Strictly for Sales" columnist Tom Reilly's session, "Value-Added Selling;" a group lunch for attendees; executive conference appointments; and a networking reception featuring the Table Top exhibits.
W.R. McCleave & Assoc.'s Dr. Bill McCleave begins Tuesday's agenda with his general session presentation, titled "Stand Out from the Competition: Using Inter-Dependency as a Cornerstone for Differentiation." McCleave follows that session with a point/counterpoint forum that will include manufacturers, distributors and manufacturers' reps panels. Each association will host its own business meeting that day as well, and a president's reception, IGA Hall of Fame and awards banquet and entertainment will end the day.
Wednesday's activities include concurrent breakout sessions. Robert Redmond, Esq., will tackle liability issues for distributors in "Staying in Business and Out of Court: Lessons Learned from a Distributor Defense Attorney;" Allen Wishner, CEO of Flexible Benefit Service Corp., will address health care costs for manufacturers in "Health Care Costs: Are there Viable Alternatives?" and Al Brosseau, president of ALBRO Export & Marketing, will speak on "International Trade Opportunities for Manufacturers' Reps." A general session with safety industry magazine editors will conclude the business of the day, which will be followed by the scramble golf tournament, reception and awards.
