Remote access with dial-in Ethernet

MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO —Rockwell Automation's new dial-in Ethernet modem expands remote connectivity to control systems beyond that of standard serial modems by enabling access to the entire Ethernet network, rather than a single device. As manufacturers continue to standardize on faster, open Ethernet networks, the use of Ethernet modems for remote dial-in capabilities will expand their ability to capture real-time production and equipment status information.
"The dial-in Ethernet modem delivers more value to customers because it can connect with any device on an Ethernet network—not just Rockwell Automation products," said Steve Hickox, remote access modems product manager at Rockwell Automation. "Now, customers are not only connected to a controller, they are directly connected to all the attached computers, operator interface screens, printers or any other device on the network—and they can remotely diagnose and solve problems on any of them."
