Keep it secure

Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 1/1/2004

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. —New IP security protection and SNMP "add-on" features are available for use with SIXNET's Versa TRAK IPm Remote Terminal Unit, SixTRAK IPm Open DCS Controller, SixTRAK I/O Controller, and the new EtherTRAK Dual Ethernet Gateway.

The IP Security add-on feature is a firewall application, which protects controller/RTU units from unauthorized access. The Security Rules Wizard in SixNET's I/O tool kit is used to define rules that restrict access based on IP address, IP ports or any other capability of the IPtables Linux application. The SNMP add-on offers the opportunity to obtain valuable network management information from the SNMP agent in their IPm controllers or RTUs. A Rules Wizard in the I/O Tool Kit configures the SNMP agent that has been integrated into the standard IPm firmware.

Purchase of a license is required to use the add-on features, but once purchased, users simply unlock the new capability to make immediate use of the function.
