Precision wins big with new contracts

Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 12/1/2003

Omaha, Neb.— Precision Industries recently scored a trifecta of sorts when it won two new contracts while receiving an extension on a third.

One of the nation's largest privately held industrial distributors, Precision was awarded a three-year supply chain services contract by International Truck & Engine Corp. Precision will provide MRO supplies and on-site services to five International Truck & Engine plants in North America: Garland, Texas; Springfield, Ohio; Conway, Ark.; Tulsa, Okla.; and Escobedo, Mexico.

International Truck and Engine, which has more than 1,000 locations, produces International-brand commercial trucks, as well as mid-range diesel engines and IC-brand school buses. It is a private-label designer and manufacturer of diesel engines for the pickup truck, van and SUV markets.

Precision also won a multi-year supply chain service provider contract with AM General of South Bend, Ind.

AM General specializes in the design, engineering, production and technical and parts support of military and special-purpose vehicles. The company makes the military-use Humvee and the civilian-use Hummer H1 vehicles, and is involved in a joint venture with GM to produce the Hummer H2. Precision will service the two AM General sites in Mishawaka, Ind.

Precision Industries also received a contract extension through 2007 from Kellogg's. Precision will continue to source, procure and sell indirect MRO, OEM and administrative services for 15 Kellogg's locations.

"International Truck is the type of partner anyone would be fortunate to have," said Chris Circo, president and COO of Precision's Supply Chain Services Group. "They have been committed to success from the beginning. We are forecasting significant supply chain reductions as a result of this partnership."

In reflecting on the AM General announcement, Circo said Precision felt "fortunate to have been selected as a supply chain provider. We look forward to a lengthy partnership with a spectacular group of people at AM General."

"The extension announcement with Kellogg's further solidifies the exceptional partnership that has been developed between our two companies," Circo continued. "We are fortunate to have such a great company as a client."
