Specialty distributors get freedom of choice
Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 10/1/2003
FARMINGTON, CONN. — Distributor Information Systems Corp. introduced software that couples the time-tested ability of the classic DISC System to manage a growing distributorship's business processes with the capabilities of Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser.
The firm says its DISC.Net solution is designed exclusively for the needs of specialty industrial distributors. Some distributors plan to adopt the new software immediately; others will run the browser-based and classic versions side by side on the same PCs, or have some employees move to the browser-based system while others stay on the classic one.
DISC's CEO and founder, John Pearse, says, ''We have always tried to make the pace of change manageable for our users by taking an evolutionary approach to software development. We also avoid forcing upgrades on our users.''
