Flexibility to manage consignment inventory
Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 6/1/2003
EAST GREENWICH, R.I . — Daly.commerce released its Customer Consignment module, which offers distributors the ability to manage inventory they own that is on display at a customer's site.
It is the first in a series of products designed to expand a company's flexibility in managing inventory that is on consignment. It makes inventory readily available to customers, while reducing warehousing costs at a company's facility.
Features include easy setup to support all consignment relationships; transfer inventory to a consignment warehouse easily and check quantity on hand at each consignment location; track lot and serial numbers for consignment inventory; a simple returns process and automated replenishment; and flexible pricing methods that allow for pricing decisions either at the time the consignment inventory is transferred or at the time of billing.
Doe & Ingalls of North Carolina, Inc. is a specialty chemical distributor that uses the consignment module.
"Having the inventory identified in a consignment warehouse allows much better visibility, tracking, and reporting of consignment inventory levels and transactions," says Andrew Finn, director of inventory.
