Baldor simplifies motion control programming

Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 12/1/2002

FORT SMITH, ARK. — Baldor Electric Co. introduced MintMT, a new multi-tasking motion control programming language. MintMT integrates key functions of motion control, I/O handling, communications, networking and operator interface into a single programming language. It allows each task to be independent of all others and makes it easier to split the tasks of machine programming among many engineers.

MintMT runs up to 400 percent faster than previous Mint programs. Start-up is now much faster since the program uses the latest compiler technology and is pre-compiled before it is stored on the control.

The time required to write new applications is also reduced. Like other high-level programming languages, MintMT offers sub routes and functions, supporting parameter passing and local data for modular programming and code reuse. Full online dynamic syntax checking immediately reports mistakes when each line of code is entered. A dynamic help function automatically takes the programmer to the appropriate help file section, or programmers can hit F1 to see documentation about a command.
