Dichtomatik purchases seal suppliers

Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 8/1/2002

Newton, Ma. —Dichtomatik, a seal and O-ring manufacturing division of Freudenburg NOK, purchased Transcom of Burnsville, Minn., and Nu-Seals of San Luis Obispo, Calif., on July 1.

Two years ago, Hamburg, Germany-based Dichtomatik bought International Seals of Purcellville, Va., as a base to begin North American business operations.

Transcom specializes in oil seals while Nu-Seals specializes in O-rings and custom-molded rubber parts. Jorg Schneewind is the new president of the resulting Dichtomatik North America.

Cliff Bannon, Transcom's director of sales and marketing, said the acquisition is good news for Transcom customers.

"The acquisition has worked out well because we added our exclusive products and are now under the banner of a company that supplies virtually any seal needed out there," he said.
