ISMA elects new officers. The Industrial Supply Manufacturers Assn. recently elected the following slate of officers, effective June 1, 2002: Hardy Hamann, Hermes Abrasives, Virginia Beach, Va., president; Raymond Reynertson, Sturtevant Richmont Div., Ryeson Corp., Franklin Park, Ill., first vice president; Timothy Tevens, Columbus McKinnon Corp., Amherst N.Y., second vice president; John Allenbach, Danaher Tool Group, Hunt Valley, Md., secretary; and James Baker, Sandvik Coromant Co., Fairlawn, N.J., treasurer.
I.D.A. elects slate of officers. The Industrial Distribution Assn. recently elected the following slate of officers, effective July 1, 2002: Mort Harris, Minnesota Industrial Tools, Eden Prairie, Minn., president; Jim Beckstein, Mill Supplies, Inc., Fort Wayne, Ind., vice president; Tom Berger, Fuchs Machinery, Omaha, Neb., treasurer.
FPDA announces convention theme. The Fluid Power Distributors Assn. will hold its 2002 Fall Meeting in San Antonio, Texas. The theme is "Putting the Pieces Together: Solving the Profit Puzzle." The meeting, held September 21-24 at Marriott Rivercenter, will address the dynamic changes taking place in the motion control industry and offer strategies that will help members solve their own profit puzzle, according to FPDA.
A new feature this year will be the 2002 TechExpo , which will showcase companion technologies to the fluid power industry. Patrick Parker, chairman emeritus of Parker Hannifin Corp., will present the keynote address. Marketing, strategy and human resource breakout sessions also highlight the meeting.

SEDA plans two events. Thirty-two attendees passed the Safety Equipment Distributors Assn. Qualified Safety Sales Professional course in April. The next QSSP course is scheduled for November 4-8 in Louisville, Ky.
SEDA also co-sponsors the National Safety Week conference in Denver July 6-9, 2002. Among the speakers are Dr. Al Bates of the Profit Planning Group, futurist Bob Treadway and J. Michael Marks of the Indian River Consulting Group.

ISM offers satellite seminars. The Institute for Supply Management will host Services Purchasing: Making the Right Decisions , an interactive educational program on, June 13, 2002. The four-hour program addresses how to select providers, draft contracts, write a statement of work and more.
Services discussed will include consulting, leasing, travel, construction, temporary workers, and information technology.
Participants relay questions to live panelists by phone, fax and e-mail. Chuck Hatsis, principal of Charter Consulting, will host the seminar.

NAED publishes human resources tools. The National Assn. of Electrical Distributors recently published two human resources guides to assist members. The Guide to Employee Recruitment and Selection takes the reader step by step through the entire process. It helps define job qualifications and identify quality applicants.
The second book, New Employee Orientation , shows the HR manager how to develop an orientation and evaluation plan.

NEDA roundtables on tap. The National Electronic Distributors Assn. will host a components roundtable in Santa Clara, Calif., June 19-20. All NEDA members can attend. The roundtable will focus on issues like 2D barcode requirements from customers, date codes and more.
Also, a human resources roundtable is scheduled for July 12-13 in San Diego, Calif.
