Seattle, Wash. — Object Publishing Software, Inc. and Safety Marketing Group, a consortium of safety equipment distributors, announced that OPS will provide technology for and host the on-demand application service provider production of custom catalogs containing SMG work-safety products. This service will allow all of their 50 member-distributors to order custom print and web catalogs of any scope over the Internet for their customers.

Distributors can go to SMG's master Web catalog, choose products, choose prices for the products, and choose presentation options. The document is ready in minutes, as a PDF, QuarkXPress, or PageMaker document for print, or a URL to the custom Web catalog. Distributors can use the same process to generate XML output in order to feed their own product database.

With this system, manufacturers will provide product information with which distributors can configure catalogs that target individual customers.
