Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 11/1/2001
Bloomfield, Conn.— On Sept. 21, Kaman Corp. acquired the industrial distribution business of A-C Supply.
The Milwaukee, Wis.-based company, ranked No. 99 in Industrial Distribution's Top 100 report (June, 2001) with $49 million in annual sales, will become part of Windsor, Conn.-based Kaman Industrial Technologies, a division of Kaman Corp. Kaman Industrial Technologies ranked No. 21 in ID's June report, with $520.8 million in sales.
"The acquisition brings us a group of talented people with a strong presence in conveyors and belting, material handling and fluid power" said Kaman Industrial Technologies president Jack Cahill. "This complements our strength in bearings, power transmission and motion control products."
Cahill says the acquisition will not only allow development of a new product grouping, but expansion into a new geographical territory as well.
A-C Supply is a privately held company with 150 employees at its 11 branches in Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois. The management team is expected to stay essentially intact and former CEO of A-C Supply Tom Schuster will remain in a consulting role, said Cahill.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
