Airgas' Peter McCausland nominated for EPA award

Peter McCausland, chairman and CEO of Airgas, Inc., was recently nominated for the Environmental Protection Agency's 2000 Stratospheric Ozone Protection Award. Airgas has emerged as a leader on the issue of mandating returnable cylinders for refrigerant gases, as opposed to disposable cylinders that pose substantial environmental risks through illegal disposal practices and residual gas leakage.

"As a distributor of packaged gases, we have a responsibility to ensure that our products are safe for the customer and the environment," McCausland says. "Airgas is committed to social benefit through corporate activism."
