White plains, N.Y. and San mateo, Calif.-IBM and Siebel Systems will provide industry-specific, fully integrated e-business solutions to rapidly growing mid-sized companies.
Applications available include database data management tools, hardware such as IBM's NT-based Netfinity, UNIX-based RS/6000 or AS/400e servers, and multiple services. Customers may also acquire an end-to-end sales force automation solution for as low as $175 a month per user, the companies said. The goal of the alliance is to ''assist customers with solutions to improve supply chains, boost productivity, and retain and attract new customers,'' says Steve Garnett, a Siebel Systems vice president.
Siebel estimates that of the $1.5 billion generated by global e-business transactions, 40 to 50 percent comes from the mid-size market.
