US Bearings and Drives makes Northwest acquisition

By Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 10/1/2000

Portland, Oreg.-US Bearings and Drives, a division of the BC Bearing Group of Burnaby, British Columbia, announced it will acquire the assets of BESCO, Inc. The transaction was scheduled to close Sept. 15.

Scott MacPherson, president of US Bearings and Drives, said the acquisition "fits perfectly into our strategic plan of growing in new and existing markets throughout the Americas by consolidating distribution in the Seattle, Wash., area, while firmly establishing our company in Alaska.

"BESCO's solid goodwill has been built up over many years with its employees, customers, vendors and the communities in which they have served. This will be of immense benefit to US Bearings and Drives going forward."

Jim Borrow, president of BESCO, said, "I am delighted with this move. Consolidation in the industry is both necessary and inevitable. As US Bearings and Drives shares our philosophy in business, I am confident that our employees will be treated well and that our customers will continue to be afforded the same high level of service they have come to expect from BESCO."

BESCO, Inc., in business for 56 years, operates three branches located in Seattle, Wash., Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska.

Established in 1979, US Bearings and Drives has 13 branches in Washington, Oregon, California, Montana and Arizona. A division of the BC Bearing Group, it is affiliated with nearly 60 locations in Canada, Mexico, Chile and the U.S.
