Software analyzes bolt joint fatigue & stress

By Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 9/1/2000

East hanover, n.j.-New software helps engineers evaluate "what if" scenarios on a bolted joint that would otherwise only be determined after extensive analysis and testing.

Sensor Products Inc. introduced BoltFAST[RM], Windows-based software that helps determine the fatigue endurance limit of a thread, the amount of embedding anticipated in the joint, and optimal tightening torque for given friction conditions. With its joint analysis, thread and torque analysis programs, the software enables end users to not only gain insight into any loosening problems with a bolt, but also what specific design changes are needed to resolve them.
