AED hosts executive forum.

AED hosts executive forum. The Associated Equipment Distributors will host "Executive Forum: E-business 2000," a conference studying the impact of electronic commerce on the construction equipment industry, Sept. 20-22 at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare in Rosemont, Ill.

AED expects more than 500 senior-level executives from the construction equipment industry to attend. The forum will bring together distributors, manufacturers, rental company executives, contractors and the leading authorities on e-commerce to explore how information technology is reshaping the way construction machinery is marketed today.

FPDA readies for Fall meeting.

FPDA readies for Fall meeting. The Fluid Power Distributors Assn. will hold its 2000 Fall Meeting Oct. 14-17 at the new Loews Philadelphia Hotel in Philadelphia, Pa.

This year's program will address the following topics: knowledge share-automating your sales force; logistics strategies; Internet procurement strategies; profitability improvement; value-add service strategies; hiring techniques; customer contracts; FPDA's Technologist's Award; CenterPoint 2000-Alternate Technologies, Friend or Foe?; and the 2001 FIRST Robotics Competition.

In addition, FPDA will conduct focus groups to address three topics: how alternate technologies are changing the traditional fluid power marketplace; value-add; and e-commerce.

NEX 2000 heads to Chicago.

NEX 2000 heads to Chicago. NEX 2000, the biennial industry show for plumbing heating, cooling and piping professionals, will be held Oct. 6-7 at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago.

Sponsored by the American Supply Assn., the Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating and the National Assn. of Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors, the show will feature educational seminars, product introductions and demonstrations, opportunities to meet with technical experts, and a special section for PVF and technology.

BSA publishes Bearing Repair.

BSA publishes Bearing Repair. The Educational Services Committee of the Bearing Specialists Assn. has published Bearing Repair, 10th in a series of single-topic educational bulletins. Bearing Repair covers issues related to reconditioning used bearings for additional life as a way to minimize replacement expense.

The bulletin explains the four levels of repairs, detailing the procedure for a level III repair, and it also compares the cost of repairs to replacement.

UID introduces new courses. The next University of Industrial Distribution, sponsored by 17 industry trade associations, will be held Oct. 22-25 at the Purdue University/Indiana University campus in Indianapolis, Ind.
