IMTS to feature more conferences

Chicago-This year's International Manufacturing Technology Show features more half- and full-day conferences and technology forums on topics from machining and forming to job shop software.
Held Sept. 6-12 in McCormick Place, IMTS 2000 includes a manufacturing conference developed by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers in conjunction with the Assn. for Manufacturing Technology. The conference brings together industry experts to give attendees the most useful and up-to-date technical information available to help them make better decisions on production improvements. More than 121,000 people attended last year and exhibitors did more than $1 billion in sales.
Highlights of the show include keynote presentations on strategic manufacturing practices for the customer-driven organization as well as the effects of today's economy on manufacturing, and technology forums.
At press time, technology topics included comparative coating for cutting tools; software for job shops; maintenance management; and environmental compliance.
A new conference format provides education on topics like machining and grinding; forming; plastics; management best practices; factory automation; design engineering; environmental issues; and leadership development.
