New name for ISEA

Arlington, Va.-ISEA - The Safety Equipment Assn. is now the International Safety Equipment Assn. Members approved the name change earlier this summer.

Once known as the Industrial Safety Equipment Assn., ISEA decided several years ago to de-emphasize the word industrial in the group's name. The reasoning was that ISEA members sold products to a diverse customer base, not just those in industrial environments. However, being known as ISEA-The Safety Equipment Assn. was confusing, according to ISEA leaders, as there was no explanation for the letter "I."

"Safety equipment is a global business," ISEA president Dan Shipp said in a July ISEA newsletter. "The name 'International Safety Equipment Association' reflects the realities of today's marketplace."

Over the next few months, ISEA will introduce an updated logo and graphics for its publications, documents and Web site.
