Around and About

Ever pucker up to a cow? David Pugh, CEO of Applied Industrial Technologies, has. And so have 11 other Applied officers.
So is cow kissing the latest trend among distribution executives? Not exactly...the Applied executives puckered up as part of a "Kiss a Cow" contest this spring which supported the Greater Cleveland Committee on Hunger's "Harvest for Hunger" initiative.
Applied employees cast their votes with cash for the executive team they most wanted to see kiss a cow. The team of Bob Stinson and Mark Eisele raised the most money, with $294.85 collected in cash "votes."
On the big day, a local farmer brought "Bessie the Cow" to Applied's corporate office to collect her smooches. In celebration of the event's success-or for the love of cows-all the officers kissed Bessie.
The "Kiss a Cow" contest was one of several events that encouraged Applied employees to contribute, in total, more than $9,000 and 1,100 pounds of food for the needy in the Cleveland area.
