NIBA convenes in Boston this fall
By Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 7/1/2000
Boston-The National Industrial Belting Assn.'s 2000 Annual Convention will be held at the Marriott Copley Place in Boston, Sept. 6-9.
In keeping with the convention's "Gateway to Revolution" theme, NIBA's Technical and Education & Training committees will present industry updates. Both committees will present highlights of the first module of the DVD-platform training series launched in May.
The Education & Training Committee will report on the 2000 scholarship winners and the self-funding of the Scholarship Fund. The Technical Committee will review new activity in ISO, ANSI, ASTM and RMA belting standards and provide information about a new partnership with the Conveyor Equipment Manufacturer's Assn. A discussion about updates to the association's engineering manual is also on the agenda.
Tom Richardson, president of Conveyor Accessories, Inc., will chair the conference booth program on Friday, Sept. 8 from 7:30 a.m. to noon.
Three nationally recognized speakers will keynote the event:
Connie Podesta's "Life Would Be Easy if it Weren't for Other People" will explore why people act and react the way they do and emphasize the impact of personal life and choices upon professional success.
C.W. Metcalf's "Lighten Up: Survival Skills for People Under Pressure," is about using humor to succeed during times of pain and change.
Don Reynolds' "Futurelook!" will explore changing business practices such as the tendency to look for local consensus instead of maintaining a corporate hierarchy.
Social activities will include a New England clam bake, a gala member event at the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum and a dinner dance.
