Elizabeth Dole headlines International Hardware Week

Chicago-International Hardware Week, held in conjunction with the National Hardware Show & Building Products Exposition, will fill McCormick Place in Chicago, Aug. 13-16, 2000.

The weeklong event is the largest trade fair for the hardware, do-it-yourself and building materials industry in the Western Hemisphere. Exhibits from more than 3,000 companies will be divided into product pavilions including hardware and related goods, lawn/garden and outdoor living, plumbing/electrical/ HVAC, building products, paint and home decorating, housewares, and international pavilions.

Elizabeth Dole, former president of the American Red Cross, will deliver a keynote speech titled, "An America We Can Be" on Monday, Aug. 14. Dole has worked for five U.S. presidents, serving as a member of the Federal Trade Commission, Deputy Assistant to the President in the White House Office of Consumer Affairs, Secretary of Transportation and Secretary of Labor. She also has been a candidate for the U.S. presidency.

In addition to Dole's keynote address, other events include a packaging exposition, international seminar/store tours, new product exposition, resource center, education programs, retail concepts center, exhibitor services and an opening reception. The New Product Exposition, sponsored by the American Hardware Manufacturers Assn., will feature more than 1,500 of the industry's latest product developments laid out in a tabletop display format.
