National Assn. of Manufacturers president Jerry Jasinowski received the Keeper of the American Dream Award from the National Immigration Forum for his commitment to and defense of legal immigration.
Under Jasinowski's leadership, NAM has taken an active and highly visible role in the immigration debate, beginning in 1990, when the NAM worked with religious and ethnic organizations to pass the first significant increase in immigration levels in 25 years. The NAM also fought to defeat proposed 1996 cuts in legal immigration, and has been pivotal in the formation and activities of the American Business for Legal Immigration coalition, which has successfully advocated increases in the admission of highly skilled immigrants.
