SupplyWorks addresses procurement gap
By Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 6/1/2000
Bedford, mass.-Internet purchasing vendor SupplyWorks, Inc. announced an Internet solution to fill the gap between manufacturing planning and procurement.
With SupplyWorks MAXT, the firm hopes to use its manufacturing management background to solve procurement problems of discrete, make-to-order manufacturers. The software enables manufacturers to instantly evaluate the status of material orders and react more effectively to unplanned events such as changes in demand or supplier fulfillment errors.
"Many manufacturers have successfully re-engineered their production planning processes, only to reveal a new operational bottleneck-direct procurement," says CEO Jeff Herrmann. Discrete manufacturers are expected to spend $18 billion on Web technology in 2000 and $27.6 billion in 2003 to increase sales and tighten their supply chains.
