By Industrial Distribution Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 3/1/2000
Cleveland--The National Fastener Distributors Assn. will hold its annual spring meeting April 12-15 at the Westin Mission Hills Resort in Rancho Mirage, Calif., just outside of Palm Springs.NFDA is expecting over 400 attendees at the four-day event, according to executive vice president Dave Merrifield.
Speakers at this year's meeting include Dr. Robert J. Kreigel, author of the national bestseller If It Ain't Broke, BREAK IT; economist Dr. Gene Stanaland; and well-known industry consultants Dr. William R. McCleave and Tim Underhill. McCleave is president of North Carolina-based W.R. McCleave and Associates, and Underhill is president of Underhill & Associates, Inc., Tulsa, Okla.
On the list of key topics to be discussed at the meeting is, of course, e-commerce. William Muehlbauer of Faspac Systems, Inc., will lead a workshop titled "Making E-Commerce Work for You." The session was "highly requested" by members, according to NFDA, and will describe the activities that make up e-commerce and explore the effect it is having and will have on the industry. Faspac Systems is a 21 year-old company providing software, systems and consulting to the fastener industry.
Merrifield said he looks forward to a successful meeting.
"We surveyed the members to see what kind of things they were looking for and pretty much came up with a speaker slate that reflects that ... from managing change to sales presentation to customer service to supply chain management and economics," Merrifield said. "We have some really top-notch speakers ... so, we're excited about that. We feel that we have a very strong program combined with an excellent location."
