Madison, Wis.--The Grainger Center for Supply Chain Management is the new name of the University of Wisconsin-Madison's MBA and MS program for future distribution and logistics executives. The university approved a name change in July. Officials said the change will help the center clearly identify itself and its academic mission to prospective students and recruiters.Established in August 1991 by a gift from the Grainger Foundation, the center was originally known as the Grainger Center for Distribution Management. The gift to the School of Business was made to recognize the increasing importance of supply chain management and industry's growing need for managers with advanced education in this area.
The center directs both a masters of business administration degree and a master of science degree in supply chain management, coordinates an undergraduate specialization and assists faculty researchers in the field.
The center also announced that half of the class of 2000 received a scholarship from a professional supply chain management related organization this year. The recipients include:
Kelly Ketchum, Menlo Logistics Graduate Scholarship; Peter Kohlstruk, Council of Logistics Management Graduate Scholarship; John Lehnen, Council of Logistics Management-Milwaukee Roundtable Scholarship; Ying Li, Council of Logistics Management Graduate Scholarship; and Stephen Medland, HK Systems/Frazier Industrial Honor Scholarship from the Material Handling Education Foundation.
