NIGDA honors Fred Stege

By Industrial Distribution Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 10/1/1999

Each year, the National Industrial Glove Distributors Assn. honors an individual who has made a significant contribution to the glove industry. This year the honor was bestowed on Fred Stege, who retired from West Chester Marketing in January 1998.

Stege entered the glove industry as a manufacturer's agent for Wolverine World Wide, Inc. and was later named the firm's national sales manager. Following that post, he worked as a sales representative for Best Manufacturing, where he received a Salesman of the Year Award and the R.W. Mann Glove Peddler's Hall of Fame Citation.

After working for Best Manufacturing, Stege became owner of Scooba Manufacturing Co. in Mississippi, which was purchased by West Chester Marketing of Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1992.

NIGDA presented the award at the 1999 Glove Industry Conference held earlier this year in Marco Island, Fla.
