ID gets a new look as it hits 88
By John J Keough -- Industrial Distribution, 1/1/1999
Welcome to the "new" Industrial Distribution magazine. As ID begins its 88th year of serving the industrial distribution community, you will see a magazine with a more contemporary look, a new logo, bolder graphics and an easier-to-read format. The redesign has been an ongoing project by the art and editorial departments for the past year.In addition to the graphic and editorial changes, you'll also see a new stock column. This monthly feature will track publicly traded distribution companies and experts will offer an analysis of stocks to watch and forecast what's ahead for the market.
As you scan the pages of ID, you'll also notice that each advertisement in the issue, in addition to the traditional "circle number," carries the web address www.inddist.com/info. Distributors who want to request product information online can look us up on the web where they will be prompted for the circle number on the ad or editorial item. In addition to the circle number, the name of the manufacturer will be highlighted to indicate an available hot link to the company. This will make it easier to obtain new product information.
And if you're one of the thousands who visit us online at our home page (www.inddist.com.) you will also see some major changes. To make it easier for you to search our Web site, we've taken a "one-stop shopping" approach to five different product categories. In each of these categories -- hand tools/power tools, cutting tools and abrasives, fasteners/adhesives, hose and accessories and distribution technology -- you'll find many articles dealing with that specific product area. The articles are taken from more than 25 manufacturing magazines published by Cahners Business Information. You'll also see news items, product information and other items dealing with those specific product groups.
Why are we making these changes? The answer is simple: to keep pace with the market turbulence that is impacting manufacturers, distributors and yes, even business magazines serving this important industry. There is one thing that won't change, however. That is our commitment to you, the industrial distributor. We'll continue to provide you with the best information available to help you make that sale and operate your business more profitably and efficiently.
