Supply chain is focus of 10th annual NMW

NEWTON, MA.--The Internet, quality and global competition are just a few of the key topics of interest to distributors that will be addressed during the 10th annual National Manufacturing Week, March 13-16 at McCormick Place Complex in Chicago. NMW has designated Tuesday, March 14, as Industrial Distribution Day.NMW provides a complete view of the entire manufacturing enterprise and its speakers, conference programs and exhibits cover the latest news in education, technology, innovation, and new products, and provide numerous networking opportunities. Last year, more than 52,000 industry professionals from OEM and process industries attended. This year, attendees will be able to access more than 2,000 exhibitors at the four interrelated shows that comprise NMW -- National Industrial Automation; National Industrial Enterprise IT; National Plant Engineering MRO & Management; and National Design Engineering -- plus the new Quality Hall, Motion Hall and 18 special focus product pavilions.
NMW's keynote speaker, Dow Bauknight, a global manufacturing partner with Anderson Consulting Supply Chain Practice, will address convention attendees at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 13.
Industrial Distribution Day events include an invitation-only luncheon, sponsored by the American Supply & Machinery Manufacturers' Assn., and a networking reception open to all distributors and exhibitors from 5 to 6:30 p.m. At the reception, INDUSTRIAL DISTRIBUTION will honor the winners of its 1999 Excellence in Distribution awards. This year's winners include: Purchased Parts Group, Inc., headquartered in Memphis, Tenn., in the category for companies with more than $50 million in revenue; Tower Fasteners of Holtsville, N.Y., in the category for companies with sales between $10 and $50 million; and Elisha Penniman, Inc., of West Hartford, Conn., in the category for companies with sales of less than $10 million annually.
The featured speaker at the ID Day luncheon will be Steven L. Miller, director corporate indirect purchasing and worldwide capital procurement for Cummins Engine Co. Miller's topic will be "Integrated Supply -- Vision 2000."
