"We thought this event, which recognizes the role of industrial distributors, should be used to raise awareness of the role that electronc commerce plays in acquiring MRO supplies and how it's going to reshape -- not replace, but reshape -- the industrial distribution MRO function," says Gary Buffington, executive vice president of the Industrial Distribution Assn.
Additional ID Day sponsors include the American Supply & Machinery Manufacturers' Assn., I.D.A., Fluid Power Distributors Assn., Power Transmission Distributors Assn., and Reed Exhibition Co.
Other ID Day events include an awards ceremony, following Davis' presentation, for the winners of the 1999 Industrial Distribution Excellence in Distribution awards.
