Motion Industries to acquire Bush-Miller
By Staff -- Industrial Distribution, 11/1/1998
Birmingham, Ala.--The power transmission industry is about to witness yet another acquisition. Bush-Miller, Inc., a 51-year-old distributorship based in York, Pa., signed a letter of intent in early October with Motion Industries. The settlement date was set for Oct. 30.David Miller, president of Bush-Miller, says selling to MI will give his company, which will operate as a division of MI after the settlement is final, the teeth it needs to compete effectively in the future.
"We're very pleased with the terms," Miller says. "Motion Industries is expecting continued growth, and because of the additional product lines and other things we should be able to take what has been offered to us and multiply that. Our growth should be better over the next couple of years than what we've been experiencing."
This acquisition provides Motion Industries an established entry into the central Pennsylvania market and is part of the company's plan for expansion in the East.
"Bush-Miller's reputation in the market, both with customers and suppliers, was such a wonderful fit with our company," says Bill Stevens, MI's president, "both with the products, they way they go to market and the way we go to market."
