Global supply chain focus of IBM meeting

Atlanta, Ga.--IBM Corp. will host a three-day conference for distribution and manufacturing executives on the supply chain's role in a global marketplace.The conference will be held at the Peabody Hotel in Orlando, Fla. on Jan. 18-20. It will feature addresses by management guru Tom Peters, former West German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt, and other international business leaders and consultants.
For the first time, more than 150 solution providers will converge to demonstrate leading edge supply chain technologies. The meeting will include more than 80 break-out sessions geared to distributors and suppliers who aim to improve profitability and performance in the automated environment.
"An effective supply chain is a fundamental element for achieving success in today's global marketplace," says Pat McNabb, IBM's executive of wholesale distribution. "This conference offers the greatest concentration of international distribution knowledge ever assembled in a single location."
Many sessions will feature executives who share actual experiences through case studies of their own companies.
Among the more than 90 speakers are former Coca-Cola executive Sergio Zyman, marketing guru Don Peppers and distribution industry consultants Bruce Merrifield, Adam Fein, Roger Harvey, Michael Marks and Bob Segal.
